Circle of Dance Publication

Illuminating vibrant, meaningful, & diverse cultural expression

Circle of dance is an exhibit that was run from October 6, 2012 – April 14, 2019 by The National Museum of The American Indian. These publications were created to highlight the ten social and ceremonial dances from throughout the Americas and their unique characteristics.

There are two books: The Power of Movement and The Power of Voices. The Power of Movement represents a wide range of dances illustrating Native traditions and their expression in contemporary life purely through imagery. The Power of Voices carries the descriptions and stories of meaning for each dance from Native peoples.
